Dries fringe top SS2015 under a navy wool dickie and vintage Prada navy jacket with green gloves and maroon Bally bag!

To be fair I have to admit I was never a fan of the drive-thru carwash when I was a kid! It was a claustrophobic setting, it was very loud and those wet, dirty strips of cloth slimed over our car seemed anything but clean! I think this may have forever clouded my view on fringe. I see fringe and think dirty carwash or tacky Vegas cowboy. However that doesn’t excuse me from picking the wrong moment to tell Anastasia about my fringe aversion.

It was Milan fashion week in September 2024 and we were just stepping out of the apartment on our way to a few fashion shows and presentations. Anastasia was wearing one of her favorite Prada looks; A F/W 2020 blue denim jacket with black fringe across the arms and back over a short aline denim skirt and Massimo Dutti kitten heels. Usually I’m very expressive in how much I love her outfits each day but on this particular day my response (though very positive) was maybe an 8 out of 10 and not my usual 12 out of 10. She sensed the difference in my reaction immediately and asked why just as we were getting in the elevator. It was shaping up to be our first uncomfortable situation in the five months we had been dating (stupid fringe’s fault). I simply said that fringe just wasn’t one of my favorite fashion trims and that I also didn’t really like cowboy boots or chenille or cowboy hats. I did however reiterate that she looked AMAZING as we exited the elevator and headed to the show.
